About
My research broadly concerns the social and cognitive processes implicated in person perception. More specifically, I am interested in questions such as how visual processes interact with intergroup contact and familiarity to determine how we perceive and construe in-group and out-group members -- for example, in specifying the separate roles of perceptual/conceptual expertise and social-categorization driven motivation in creating a bias whereby we differentiate more effectively between in-group members than between out-groups members (the "cross-race effect").
